Kim here! We’re going “Off the Books” for month end to share a look at what I’ve been up to this month (besides reading). We’ve been rotating this series between us each month. Take a look at January, February, & March!

5 Wins This March
- Getting my garden started! I’m actually on top of it this year and the garden boxes have been weeded and planted with a crop of spring peas and carrots.
- Eating breakfast every day. I typically run on coffee fumes until around 2pm when I finally eat something. It’s not great so I’ve made it a goal to actually eat some breakfast every day by 10am.
- Finishing the semester strong. I’ve graded all of my students work and turned in final grades on time. I also finished my graduate class work and earned an A in the class. Phew! Glad to have that one checked off.
- Protecting the local stray cat. My neighbor is a bit of a grump and regularly sets out a trap to bait and catch not just strays, but any cats that come in his yard. I’ve grown fond of a local black kitty, who I think is a stray, and I’ve been looking out for him to make sure he doesn’t end up in that trap. He’s too sweet for that.
- Survived winter months. Seriously. This is a huge win for me as I get seasonal depression bad. I’ve worked hard not to fall deep by focusing on the little things like my yoga practice, reading, and journaling. The photo above is from our spring break trip to Southern Utah which really helped to get me out of the cold weather run down feeling I’d been dealing with.
4 Things Giving Me Hope & Making Me Happy Right Now
- Sharon McMahon – she’s known as America’s Favorite Government Teacher. I main follow her Instagram stories where she breaks down what is happening in our country in a clear and easy to understand way. I also love her podcast for the deep history dives.
- Artly app – I still love studying art history and this app has been a fun review of my favorite pieces. It’s reminds of beauty, creativity, and progress.
- The Daily Pep Podcast – I love listening to these short and inspiring messages each day.
- Sarita Walsh – I like checking in with her IG each day and seeing what daily bits of wisdom and clarity she’s shared.

3 Things I’m Doing Every Morning in the Spring
- Getting outside. Going out in the sunshine for 30 minutes to sit on my bench, watch my bird feeder, and read is the charge up I need to get going.
- Eating breakfast. See above! Hopefully I can keep up my habit of a healthy protein packed breakfast and get better at doing the same for lunch.
- Stretch. I’m now at the age where I wake up feeling stiff and sore no matter how well I slept the night before. I have the Bend app and it’s been great at keeping my on track with this goal.
2 Movies I Watched This Month
- Minecraft Movie. We finally took the kids to see it and they loved it. As for me? I know pretty much nothing about Minecraft but it was worth seeing just for Jack Black’s shenanigans.
- Napoleon Dynamite. It was time to introduce my boys to this classic and it did not disappoint.
1 New Favorite Recipe
- Italian Grinder Wraps. I could eat these everyday! I like to eat as a wrap rather than a sandwich using these spinach & herb wraps. I also typically add some avocado. So delicious!
Now on to the next month! –xoxo–
