UPDATED! The StoryGraph is a book tracking platform and it has become an excellent site for hosting reading challenges due to it’s simple interface and ease of use. This is the 3rd year I’m going through all of the challenges hosted there and sharing with you the most popular 2026 year long reading challenges being hosted on StoryGraph.

- The StoryGraph’s Genre Challenge 2026. The purpose of our Genre Challenge is to encourage you to read outside of your comfort zone and reach for books across genres you might not normally try.
- The StoryGraph Reads the World 2026. Explore books from the 10 countries in the reading prompts.

- Buzzword Reading Challenge 2026. The Buzzword Readathon (#buzzwordathon) is a year long challenge focused on book titles- each month has a designated word/word theme and you read a book that fits the theme.
- Buzzword Cover Challenge 2026. This is a spinoff of the Buzzword Reading Challenge (which focuses on titles) but each month has a COVER element instead that you read to complete.

- Horror Bingo by WickedReading. Bring spooky vibes all year long (Oct. 2025 – Sep. 2026) by reading predominately horror, but you may also use horror adjacent works such as thriller/suspense, dark literary works, dark fantasy, etc. to fill out the spaces.
- 52 Books in 52 Weeks for 2026 (52 Book Club). The 52 Book Club’s annual reading challenge is made up of 52 unique reading prompts. The goal is to match one book to each prompt, for a total of fifty-two books over the course of the year. (also 52 Book Club 2026 Reading Challenge)
- Romanceopoly 2026 – Core Curriculum. Romanceopoly U is a year-long romance reading challenge where you “enroll” in classes (prompts) that actually match romance-reader brain chemistry.
- William Allen White 2025-2026 6th-8th Grade Reading List. read all of the books from this year’s 6th-8th grade reading list! Can you do it before May 8th?
- The Diverse Baseline 2026 Reading Challenge. A reading challenge focused on uplifting racialized authors and stories all year long.

- Touch The Rainbow, Read the Rainbow ‘26 🌈. Each book is based on the color cover!A goal to bring down the TBR list and changing up your vibe!
- OUABC 2026 Reading Challenge. Pulled directly from the 2026 reading challenge scratch-off as included in the Once Upon a Book Club Up All Night 2025 box, complete as many challenges as you can before the year is over!
- Read More Queer 2026. The Read More Queer challenges you to diversify your reading, from different genres, to identities.
- Read Queerly 2026. Read books featuring LGBTQ+ characters and stories. Complete the bingo.
- TBRathon: Map of Stories. Map of Stories is just one of three challenges created this year. This challenge does have a map worksheet, and you can access all materials via the Announcement video).
- Book Riot’s Read Harder 2026. Book Riot’s annual challenge. Books can be used for multiple prompts, or you can challenge yourself to read 24 different ones (also Book Riot’s 2026 Read Harder Challenge)
- Around the Year in 52 Books (2026). 52 books for 52 weeks. This list was suggested, voted on, and chosen by ATY group members.
- 2026 Book Bingo! Complete the prompts for this bingo board.
- 2026 Read Your Bookshelf Challenge. Read books from your bookshelves using these prompts to guide your selection each month.
- TBR Spin 2026. Prompts are added each month (subscribe to Freshly Read Books on YouTube to see them as soon as they’re announced).
- ’26 ABC Challenge. Read your way through the alphabet and hopefully read outside of your comfort zone a little bit as you go.
- 2026 Easy Reading Challenge. This challenge is made for everyone : smaller readers who want to challenge themself to read at least one book a month, to bigger readers to read as many as they want to fit the prompt.
- Diverse Reading Challenge 2026. A challenge to encourage you to diversify your reading in 2026!
- 2026 Key Word Reading Challenge. Your task for this challenge is simple: read a book with one or more of the key words, for that month, in its title.
- Pantone 2026. the only rule is that the cover of the book must match the shade on pantone’s report, whether the cover is solid or if its just one shade in a multi-colored cover.
- Defeating the Goblin TBR 2026. Read books from your TBR for the prompts. All prompts are vibe-based, if you don’t like the prompt description, read something that comes to mind with the prompt title instead. Goblins live by their own rules and I’m not about to change that.
- 2026 Boundless Book Club Picks. Each month we read 1 fiction and 1 nonfiction book by a BIPOC author.
- 2026 TBR Tackle. This challenge is all about reading those books that have been waiting for you too long. Prompts are included to spark an idea, but read whatever is in your personal TBR!
- Shelf Reflection 2026 Reading Challenge. 45 prompts to help you pick books to read or to try books or authors you wouldn’t normally read.
- Beyond the Bookends 2026 Reading Challenge. One prompt a month for each month of the year.
- Book bingo 2026. A book bingo to help you tackle your TBR.
- Kats Booknerds 2026 Challenge- Bouquet of Books. This year’s theme is FLOWERS!!! The main challenge prompts are based off flowers and their meanings.
- 2026 Alphabet A-Z Challenge. Read a book starting with each letter of the alphabet in honor of 2026 and the 26 letters.
- Comet Readings’ 2026 Reading Challenge. 52 reading prompts designed to make 2026 your most exciting reading year yet.
- Romance Bingo 2026. A bingo for romance lovers.
- Diverse Trope Challenge 2026. Each month, we’ll feature a popular romance trope. Your challenge is to read books within that trope by marginalized authors.
