Hello from vacation! How was your week? What did you read? I finished The Guest List, Lucy Foley which was a pretty good whodunnit thriller. Here are 10+ bookish links I came across this week.
one+ How do you choose your next read? I keep a folder in my Favorites bar of my browser called “To Read” and it has various lists. My next read I chose from the books on 100 New Horror Recommendations for (Nearly) Every Kind of Reader.
two+ The most recent lists I added to that “To Read” folder is Big Books for Big Reading Goals and Locus Mag’s Annual Recommended Reading List.
three+ If you’re looking for books to read for Women’s History Month, check out 23 Historical Fiction Books About Women in STEM.
four+ How To Customise Goodreads To Get 5-Star Book Recommendations is a must read if you use Goodreads and want to make it work better for you.
five+ What new releases are you looking forward to reading this Spring? I’m still looking through all the lists like the Most Anticipated Science Fiction & Fantasy Spring 2024 and 58 Goodreads Biggest Books of Spring, According to Readers.
seven+ The Atlantic’s List of The Great American Novels is “the result of a project that looks at the most influential novels in America for the past 100 years (roughly from 1924-2023).” The link is pay-walled, but Goodreads Listopia users have posted the 136 books. Have you read any of the books? It’s good to see some genre reads reflected there – I’ve only read 8 of the 136 books, and some of them I didn’t like.
six+ The finalists for the 2024 Thriller Awards have been announced (winners will be announced on June 1st). Have you read any of the books nominated? I loved All the Sinners Bleed, S.A. Crosby, which is nominated for Best Hardcover Novel.
eight+ The winners of the first Libby Book Awards have been announced. There were 17 categories. Winner for Best Adult Fiction is The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store, James McBride.
nine+ The finalists for the 59th Annual Nebula Awards have been announced. I haven’t read any of the picks for best novel or novella, but I’m hoping to before the winners are announced on June 8, 2024.
ten+ The March Check-Ins have been posted for our Key Word and Motif reading challenges. Add your links!
