February Reading Events and Challenges

Looking at February, here are the major book awards that will be announced this month, along with a collection of reading challenges that you can participate in.

Book Awards in February

🕮 Cybils Awards will be announced on Feb. 14. The CYBILS Awards aims to recognize children’s and YA authors and illustrators whose books combine the highest literary merit and popular appeal.

Reading Challenges

🕮 #ReadIndies Month – The idea is to read books published by Independent Publishers this month. An independent publisher is usually a small press that provides services similar to traditional publishers, but tend to structure their publishing contracts in innovative ways, with the possibility of a much more collaborative relationship with authors.

🕮 #WintersRespite – Time for a month of reading to decompress from the holiday season. Nothing better than some comfort reading. Join in when you can, start in the middle, end early … whatever works best for your schedule. There will also be a 24 hour readathon one Saturday.

🕮 February Bookish First Bingo – A monthly bingo style challenge.

#Bookstagram Challenges

#AlltheBooksFeb24 – share a photo for each daily prompt using the monthly hashtag. Check the hashtag to see all of the photos that have been shared for the challenge. Fee free to post and interact as little or as much as you’d like.

#LMSFebruary2024 – one-word prompts for each day. As always, the prompts are up for interpretation, so have fun with it!

#ReadMeAValentine – A fun reading challenge to celebrate our love of books

#StoriesWithStephFeb24 – The design of February’s challenge is to foster both shoutouts and photo prompts. “Shoutout a book lover who…”

#MyFandomObsessionsFeb24 – daily suggestion theme is from the Serenity tv show!
